What Your Counsellor at Swan Lane Counselling Would Offer:

We each offer a psychodynamic approach to counselling. This bases itself on the understanding that people are shaped by their past as well as by the here-and-now. Past patterns which may be unhelpful can repeat themselves; unconscious issues can affect our lives negatively. With your counsellor, you would be able to explore what troubles you, and hopefully come to a better understanding of yourself and how to move on.

Practicalities

You can contact us by telephone, email or in writing. We believe it is important for you to feel safe in working with your counsellor. Orah or Kathleen will offer you an initial meeting in which you may explain why you wish to come for counselling, ask any questions about how we work and see if this is for you.

You may then opt for short-term or more open-ended counselling. Short-term counselling lasts for a period of 6 sessions. Open-ended counselling gives you the option of staying until you feel ready to stop counselling. You would normally meet with your counsellor on a weekly basis. Each session lasts 50 minutes.

Our fees are £40 and concessions are available if you are unemployed, a student or on a low income.  Your fee would be agreed with you in your initial meeting.
