I see counselling as a chance for breathing space, a time for reflection and for experiencing change; and have seen how healing and freeing this can be.
Experiencing difficulties can feel negative but, when faced, they often become a source of personal growth.
I have been a counsellor for over 11 years, am BACP Accredited and a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor.
My training was in psychodynamic counselling, and since then has grown to include other approaches.
Psychodynamic counselling bases itself on the understanding that people are shaped by their past as well as by the here-and-now. This can be helpful when attending to you and to your current difficulties. Together we will be able to explore what troubles you, so that you are able to come to a better understanding of yourself and your situation, and how to move forwards.
I offer an initial meeting, in which you may begin to explain why you wish to come for counselling, ask any questions about how we may work together, and see if this is for you. We would then meet regularly on a weekly basis; each session would last 50 minutes. My normal fees are £40 per session. Concessions are also available if you are on a low income, a student, or unemployed. We would agree your fee during the initial meeting.
